The Shamana Yoga Method
A Journey Through Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Space
At the heart of the Shamana Yoga Method is the Tantric understanding of the five elements and the traditional chakra system. These principles guide our journey through Yoga, connecting physical practice, breath, energy, awareness and daily living.
Our approach brings together traditional Hatha Yoga, flowing Vinyasa practices, the wider branches of Integral Yoga and the holistic wisdom of Ayurveda.
Through the five elements, we explore different qualities of practice, moving between stillness and movement, strength and surrender, outer expression and inner awareness.
Earth -— Grounding & Stability
Earth invites us to establish a strong foundation. Through steady postures, mindful alignment, grounding practices and restorative movement, we cultivate stability, patience and a deeper connection with the physical body.
Water — Fluidity & Adaptability
Water teaches us to move with greater ease and sensitivity. Through flowing sequences, breath-led movement and gentle transitions, we explore flexibility, creativity and the ability to adapt to change.
Fire — Strength & Transformation
Fire awakens vitality, discipline and inner strength. Through dynamic asana, focused breathing and practices that cultivate inner heat, we explore the transformative power of dedicated practice and conscious effort.
Air — Expansion & Connection
Air invites openness, freedom and expansion. Through breath awareness, spacious movement and expressive practices, we cultivate lightness, connection and a greater sense of possibility within ourselves.
Space — Stillness & Awareness
Space brings us toward the subtler dimensions of Yoga. Through pranayama, meditation, mantra and inner observation, we explore stillness, expanded awareness and the deeper relationship between mind, energy and consciousness.
Integrating the Elements
The five elements are not separate practices but interconnected qualities that exist within each of us.
By exploring their relationship through the traditional chakra system, Ayurveda and the different branches of Yoga, students develop a more complete understanding of practice and learn to adapt their teaching to different needs, abilities and circumstances.
Rather than following one fixed style, the Shamana Yoga Method encourages an integrated and adaptable approach, allowing Yoga to become not only something we practice on the mat, but something we carry into everyday life.—
The Art of Thematic & Adaptive Yoga Teaching
One of the distinctive strengths of the Shamana Yoga Method is its versatility. Rather than learning a fixed sequence or a single style of practice, students develop a comprehensive and adaptable approach to designing and guiding yoga classes.
At the heart of our teaching method is the art of creating a class around a meaningful theme. Drawing inspiration from the five elements, chakra system, Yoga philosophy and traditional yogic practices, students learn to weave asana, pranayama, meditation and other aspects of Yoga into a coherent and enriching experience.
Through creative sequencing, alignment principles, modifications and regular teaching practicums, students learn to adapt their classes to different ages, abilities, experience levels and individual needs.
Our goal is to give each graduate a versatile teaching foundation, the confidence to create balanced and purposeful classes, and the freedom to develop their own authentic teaching voice.

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training brings together six essential areas of study and experience. Each pillar supports the others, offering a well-rounded education that develops both your personal practice and your confidence as a yoga teacher.

What Makes Our Approach Unique
Years of Experience & Traditional Yogic Training
A Family Atmosphere & Personal Attention
An Integral & Multi-Style Approach to Yoga
With over 20 years of study, personal practice, teaching, and therapeutic experience, Eran and Batya bring together traditional yogic wisdom, authentic lineage teachings, and practical knowledge gained through years of working with students from around the world.
As a family-run yoga school, we intentionally keep our groups small, with a maximum of 12 students. This creates a warm, intimate environment where everyone receives personal attention, individual guidance, and genuine care throughout their journey.
Our approach brings together traditional Hatha Yoga, dynamic Vinyasa, and elements of different yogic traditions. Rooted in the integral understanding of Yoga, we explore its many branches, including physical practice, pranayama, meditation, philosophy, and devotional practices, alongside the traditional Tantric teachings of the five elements and chakra systems.
Practical Learning & Holistic Understanding
Our training combines traditional yogic wisdom with practical experience, encouraging students to explore, question, and apply what they learn. We emphasize both personal development and the skills needed to confidently share Yoga with others.
Integrating Yoga, Ayurveda & the Healing Arts
Inspired by the Traditional Gurukul System
Yoga and Ayurveda are complementary sciences that form an essential part of our holistic approach. Through traditional practices, Ayurvedic principles, and an understanding of the body and mind, students learn to support balance, well-being, and personal transformation.
Drawing inspiration from the ancient Gurukul tradition, we believe that Yoga is learned not only through study but also through daily practice, shared experiences, and living together in community. Our approach encourages self-discipline, mutual respect, personal responsibility, and learning that extends beyond the classroom.
What Makes Shamana Special
Our open-air yoga shala overlooks the beautiful waters of Lake Atitlán and its surrounding volcanoes, creating an inspiring space for daily practice, study, and reflection.
Nestled in the peaceful village of San Marcos La Laguna, Shamana offers a welcoming environment where Yoga, nature, and community come together. Between classes, students can enjoy nourishing meals, explore nearby trails, connect with the rich Mayan culture of the region, or simply relax and take in the beauty of the lake.
Here, the experience of Yoga naturally extends beyond the classroom and into everyday life.
